DTN COMMENTS:  All remains fairly quiet in the country this afternoon, 
some asking prices in parts of the South are noted at $214 to $215, but 
they are still not established in the North. Bids continue to be very 
elusive. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until Thursday 
or Friday. 

Today's slaughter totaled 122,000 head, 1,000 less than last week, and 
3,000 below a year ago. Live cattle futures closed moderately to sharply 
higher, up 30 to 182, while feeder contracts ended the day mostly sharply 
higher, up 90 to 142. Beef cutouts are expected to close mixed with 
moderate box movement.
